Ian Sanderson
Ian Sanderson, Mohawk Nation, Turtle Clan, has spent his life engaged in decolonization work with Indigenous youth; Survival Skills instruction at Naropa University; teaching martial arts as a way to push students of all ages toward their most actualized being; and, most recently, corporate coaching designed to bring business people from the boardroom into the forest. Ian is committed to supporting others as they develop and elevate culture and awareness--of themselves, their work, their relationships, and the world--through application of Western, Indigenous, and Eastern thought. He has facilitated 800-900 group training and speaking engagements over the last 20 years, including multi-day retreats for up to 80 people. Clients have included 900 employees in the first year at Covidian/ Medtronic, 24 staff and senior Line Officers at the United States Forest Service, the Canadian Outward Bound Wilderness School, Naropa University, the Environmental Center at CU Boulder, and many more. He works in individual, small, and large group formats.
Rachel Balkcom
Rachel teaches for social justice and the equitable sustainability of people and planet. She has spent her career facilitating youth work around systems change and directing both student activist and teacher training programs through schools and non-profits. A 23-year high school teacher, Rachel has taught multiple courses of her own creation—Sustainable Economics, Indigenous Studies, Social Activism, Philosophy—in addition to standard English and History curricula. For years, she created and chaperoned youth Indigenous Studies trips to the Southwest U.S. focusing on internal transformation through experience with Indigenous Worldview.
